25 Reads of Xmas #19

Every day in December leading up to Christmas we’ll be reading a book to enjoy the season. Join us as we enjoy seasonal reads that are perfect to celebrate the holidays!

Bobbie knows that this Christmas won’t be as it always is. Matter of fact, she’s actually pretty glad about that fact. Just putting up with her wacky Uncle Dale, her stupid neon-pink arm cast, and her brother’s constant reminders of the toy he just cannot-wait-to-get-from-Santa is enough to drive Bobbie mad. This season is especially dreary given Bobbie’s absentee father. In an attempt to make her little brother’s Christmas a little bit better, Bobbie decides to steal a Christmas gift for Tad. After all, even if a Santa Claus did exist, he couldn’t get mad at her for trying to make the season a little bit better, right? But nothing goes as planned. When a pair of elves show up, Bobbie knows that she’s in for a wild ride, one that includes ninja Santas, robo-narwhals, submarines, and maybe, just maybe, the true spirit of Christmas.

Michael Fry is a pretty well-known children’s author, whose humorous books for children have hit many a list of favorites. I know they’re always checked out at my library. This enthusiastic and rambunctious Christmas tale is original, laugh-out-loud funny, and exciting – perfect for middle-grade readers this holiday season. Plus, for any little artists out there, there’s plenty of illustrations to fill this book and give it almost a comic-book edge. Find The Naughty LIst by Michael Fry and Bradley Jackson at your local library or bookstore this holiday season!
