NaNoWriMo Reads: Week 3

During the month of November I will be reading through materials helpful to both budding and seasoned authors alike. We’ll be looking at reads to help with the craft, editing, and publication of writing, all with the aim of inspiring you this NaNoWriMo month.

As we come into the home stretch of NaNoWriMo, I think it prudent to discuss writing in the context of good health and habits.

This week’s WriMo read is Write Smart, Write Happy by Cheryl St. John. If you’re feeling stressed to get everything done, this book will definitely be a good break from all of the November writing rush. St. John advises you how to plan out your book, write your book, and do it all with a clear mind and relaxed brain. She offers some great exercises to get into the writing mood as well as tips on how to keep up your writing momentum no matter what writing constraint you’re on. This can often be one of the trickiest parts of getting through NaNoWriMo, making this an excellent read to help you get through the last two weeks of the challenge.

I really enjoyed poring over this book and trying out some of the exercises throughout the month. It definitely helps to relax and enjoy the month a lot more. Cheryl St. John does a great job of offering advice as well as encouraging authors to take care of themselves throughout the month. Pick this book up for some great NaNoWriMo reading!
