The Disney Book: A Celebration of the World of Disney

I picked this book up about a week ago and found it a delightful read:

2978405“Disney means enchantment, fun, and adventure – but beyond that, a touching of the heart, an aspirational stirring of the soul, a feeling of belonging.” So begins this fun guide to Disney that both children and adults can enjoy. The book attempts to cover the vast history of Disney, beginning with Walt’s earliest creative endeavors, the Laugh-O-grams, and moving to the present day. Interesting, engaging information and colorful pictures make this book an easy read that will delight the whole family.

Recently I found this book at Barnes and Nobles and – being a huge fan of all things Disney – wanted to get it with Christmas money. I was pleased to find that it was at our local library and checked it out immediately. Though the book was enjoyable, I found myself slightly disappointed. Because this book does cover roughly eighty-five years of Disney, there was not a lot of time spent on one particular subject. The largest sections were dedicated to newer franchises or popular films. Nevertheless, I did have fun reading this and for any fan curious, this is a great introduction to the world of Disney. I highly recommend this book, especially for younger kids who are clamoring to know what goes on behind the scenes of some of their favorite movies.
