I recently entered in Alligator Juniper’s poetry competition. Yesterday, I received a letter telling me that my entry was not chosen as one of the winning entries. Instead of being disappointed however, I was actually appreciative of the letter. Unlike most contests I’ve entered in where no reply was given if I lost, I read an editor’s note that told me what they liked about my poem, giving actual references! It was much more personal and much more meaningful to me and I’m glad I entered, despite the fact that I didn’t win.

I look forward to entering more Alligator Juniper competitions in the future and encourage you to do so too!

  1. Feedback is a great sign. I’m happy an editor invested the time to craft a personal reply for you.
